My career started in corporate training across the Caribbean and grew into university teaching, research and leadership roles in marketing, business development and credit unions. Today I teach MBA and BCom students at University Canada West, publish research and teaching cases, and advise organizations on strategy and growth.

Business educator, researcher and former industry leader, from Trinidad and Tobago to Vancouver.

About

From corporate training to the MBA classroom

My path as an educator began in corporate training across the Caribbean, delivering courses in supervisory management, customer service, entrepreneurship, marketing and sales. I spent years with YTEPP Limited as an Entrepreneurship and Small Business lecturer before becoming Technical Supervisor for entrepreneurship lecturers across the region.

I also taught at the University of the West Indies Open Campus and the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute. Since moving to Canada in 2021, I have taught at Cornerstone International Community College and Granville College, and I now serve as Assistant Professor at University Canada West, teaching marketing, strategy, entrepreneurship and research at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

A Caribbean initiative for at-risk young people

Through the ELE Foundation, I am developing a Caribbean initiative that gives young people from poor and at-risk communities a real path forward. The plan brings together scholarships, free skills training and mentorship, so that talent is not lost to circumstance. It builds on the years I spent teaching entrepreneurship to young people across Trinidad and Tobago.

Working with the ELE Foundation, I am helping to launch a Learning Centre in Ethiopia: a safe, welcoming space where young people can study, build practical skills and get the guidance they need to succeed. These markets are full of creative, resilient enterprises whose stories are rarely told. Five people. One year. Free. Dr. Eleazar Anthony Noel launches the Gashaw Eyasu Mentorship Program

A free, year-long programme beginning in January 2027 will give five selected mentees personal career guidance, bi-monthly meetings and exclusive invitations to lectures, talks and events.

VANCOUVER, BC — Dr. Eleazar Anthony Noel, Assistant Professor of Marketing, Strategy and Entrepreneurship at University Canada West, today announced the launch of the Gashaw Eyasu Mentorship Program, a free, one-year programme for people who are ready to take their careers seriously. The first cohort begins in January 2027, and only five mentees will be selected.

Over twelve months, each mentee will work one-to-one with Dr. Noel to set clear career goals and build a plan to reach them. The programme includes bi-monthly mentoring meetings, ongoing support for personal and professional growth, and special invitations to lectures, talks and events where mentees can learn, connect and be seen.

The programme draws on Dr. Noel's experience of more than 18 years in industry across the Caribbean, the United Kingdom and Canada, and on teaching and supervising more than 3,500 students. His former students describe a mentor who gives personal attention and pushes people beyond their comfort zones.

The programme is open to students, recent graduates, early-career professionals, career changers and entrepreneurs. Because places are strictly limited, early applications are encouraged.

Each month, entrepreneurs at every stage, from people with an idea to owners of established companies, will gather at the same virtual table with Dr. Noel and a special guest. Conversations will cover the real issues founders face: funding and cash flow, marketing on a budget, scaling up, entering new markets, newcomer entrepreneurship in Canada, and using AI and digital tools to work smarter.

Dr. Noel teaches entrepreneurship and small business growth at University Canada West, chaired a credit union co-operative, and has supported entrepreneurs across the Caribbean and Canada for more than a decade. His teaching cases on immigrant entrepreneurship and scaling independent businesses are published by Emerald.

Most of us, Dr. Noel argues, are performing a script handed to us at birth by parents, teachers, society, culture and our own unspoken fears, then wondering why success feels so much like exhaustion. The book dismantles ten pervasive myths, including the illusion of certainty, the myth of happiness, the tyranny of time and the paradox of freedom. With intellectual rigour, raw personal honesty and genuine warmth, it offers readers the tools to build a life that is authentically their own.
